We have something for everyone! Not only do we focus on leash manners; we also work on socialization, sociability, coping skills, and training through an unpredictable environment - the great outdoors! We take a break at the river. There the dogs can take a break, play in the water or we can work on recall while helping the dogs get more comfortable around the water.
The hike is just under two miles in total; on a paved, mostly flat trail ending at the river. We recommend close toed shoes, and to bring footwear that is water friendly if you want to wade in with your dog! A long leash is not necessary but can make things more fun at the river. Bring plenty of high-value treats or fun toys so you can keep your dog's attention during all the distractions.
*Dogs with reactivity to bikes, people, dogs, etc or those with intense excitability or frustration around moderate to severe distractions would be best suited for private lessons before attending the hikes.
Hikes occur at Bannister Park: 3820 Bannister Rd, Fair Oaks, CA 95628. Duration 60-90 minutes, 2 mile distance on a paved path. All hikes begin at 8am on Sunday morning. Maximum 5 dogs in attendance.
